"Listen, Onasi," Revan said. "You haven't helped me raise my son: Mira has. We're like joint parents. So please don't ridicule me on how to raise him. Yes, I've told him over and over not to play with my lightsabers. This is the second time he's done this, Carth. Stop acting so gullible and get me a painkiller. There in the 'fresher, top drawer on the right. The small yellow case."
"Daddy," Dev said, waddling up. "Where you go? Momma say you leave for a while? Back for good?"

Carth Onasi
"No." I shook my head "Look at yourself, Revan, you're...you're miserable..."
I clenched my fists. "Get your own damn painkillers, I'm not gonna take this from you."
Just as I was about to leave little Dev came walking over. I kneeled down to his height, holding his head in my hands. "I flew far away, I'm back now. I'll be with you here forever."
I held Dev tight one last time before heading for the door. "Figure yourself out, Rev, then come talk to me."

"You're acting like a kriffing woman, Onasi!" Revan called down the hallway. Closing her eyes, Revan breathed in, ten out, trying not to let any more anger slip out. At least, not in front of Dev. Turned around, and took off his bandage and placed a cool hand on his burn. "Never get into a relationship, Dev," she said. Her hands warmed, and the skin folded back into place beneath her fingers, leaving a silvery-white scar.
"I'm sorry for making you and daddy fight, momma," Dev said. "Was it because I played with the light when you say no?"
"Carth's just grumpy," Revan muttered. "He'll get over it. Now, Dev, I think it's time for a time-out. Back to your room."
"But, But when will timeout be over?"
"When I come back." She leaned down and kissed his forehead. "If you need me, you know my frequancy."
"Six-six point six," Dev said.
Revan smiled and nodded. "Yup. Now be a good boy until I get back."
"Yes, mommy."
As Dev waddled off to his room, Revan surveyed her room. The chest beside her bed was wide open. Revan was sure she had locked it, though. A piece of her Mandalorian chest armor was on the floor next to it. It seemed as though Dev had hit the chest very hard. Revan shook her head and picked up her spare lightsaber, hooking it to her belt.
Then she was off to the Council--without Carth.

MicalI stood within the Council chambers, contemplating everything we'd already discussed. It was obvious that it was time for action, and the time for discussion was finished. We now knew where Dane was, what she was most likely after, and what was wrong with her. All we could do now was try and stop her, and help her before it was too late. I sighed wistfully as I thought about her. In my own way, I loved her. Perhaps in some way, I had once "loved" her, but as I grew older I came to realize that it was never really love. I loved her as a friend, as a teacher, and as a role model, yes. But it was never a romantic kind of love--if it had been, it never went beyond infatuation. And after going on many adventures with Dane and the rest of the Council, and gaining more and more wisdom and experience, I was no longer the niave boy that I had been when I'd first encountered Dane again, on this very planet, in the sublevel of the enclave. Perhaps it was even back then that I knew, even as I traveled with her, and gotten to know her, that it would never work out between her and I. Atton had been rough around the edges back then, but she'd had a positive influence on him, and frankly, even I could see that they just fit each other better. I shook my head at myself. Dane's life, perhaps the entire Republic and Jedi Order, were at stake, and here I was, dwelling on the past. The Council was about to re-assemble. Everyone was tending to various tasks right now, though I knew we would all meet together again, here in the Council Chambers shortly, to discuss our next course of action. For some reason, I found my thoughts straying to Mira. Just like everyone else here in the New Jedi Order today, she was different than she had been when I'd first met her. Frankly, when we were first thrown together all those years ago, and began our mission to locate the missing Jedi Masters and, in the end, stop the Sith, none of us could have imagined such an unlikely group would be thrown together. Nor did we realize that we'd work together so well, all things considered. And we definitely had no idea that we'd all be on the new Jedi Council together one day! Truth was, I had grown to respect and admire Mira a lot, especially over the past couple of years. She was so good with little Dev, I couldn't believe I'd once thought she wouldn't be good with kids. Now it almost made me wonder if one day, she might like to have one of her own... I blinked. I had no idea where that thought had come from, and frankly, this feeling I had when I thought of Mira... it excited me a little, yet frightened me at the same time... OOC: Ugh, I hope this post wasn't too sappy or anything Honestly... I thought a Mira/Mical pairing might be an interesting thing to try--or at least, Mical has a bad crush on her right now, LOL. I'll leave it up to you, Abby, whether or not Mira returns his feelings

OOC: Hmm... Abby likie. Let's try it. -- Revan entered the Council Chambers, face still flushed from her argument with Carth. Then, however, she realized that the meeting was over. "Dammit," Revan muttered. It was then she caught sight of Mical. "How'd it go, kid? Are we going to look for Dane or not?"

I smiled, chuckling a little at the way Revan addressed me. It reminded me, once again, that I was the youngest member on the Council. Compared to everyone else, I was practically still a teenager.
"Yes," I said, nodding. "We must go to Coruscant and stop her. She's been possessed by the spirit of the Whale-creature, which we believe is trying to obtain the means to ressurrect itself. We can only hope that we can capture Dane, and remove the creature's spirit from her safely."
I sighed. "Perhaps we should also decide who is going, and who is staying. I think perhaps I should remain here, because someone needs to hold down the fort. And I am the more logical choice to stay--you've seen the Whale and dealt with it, so you know more about it and how to handle it than I do. And Atton should go, because he is close to Dane and might be able to get through to her."

"I want Mira to come, too," Revan said. "She knows 'bounty hunter things'. Stuff that I don't, anyway. I'll need her with me. That's a fact."
Revan hesitantly reached out to the Force and felt around the Enclave. Most of the Council Members had left, and Carth was somewhere in the guest quarters, still fuming at her. Revan located Mira somewhere in the old council chambers, which had been reconstructed into a lightsaber training room. No one else was with her, and from the mental exertion she felt emmitting off of her, Mira was practicing the art of absorbing energy.
--
Mira stood in the center of the circle, facing off against two remotes, completely submerged in the Force. She grimaced as the last blaster bolt burned her hand. Trying to deflect, or even absorb, a blaster bolt with just the Force was tricky if you didn’t know anything about the laser beam. Lukily, Mira had learned loads in her youth:
A laser beam was a coherent shaft of light. When referring to light (or any other wave pattern for that matter), coherence refers to the pattern's "sameness" in multiple waves. In other words, each light wave emitted from the laser device had the same wavelength and amplitude as all other waves emitted from the same device, and all "crests" and "troughs" of every wave were aligned with the others.
Lasers were generated by introducing energy to a medium, the substance used to generate the beams. Tibanna gas was a frequently favored medium. When an atom of the medium was excited by energy, one or more of its electrons would "jump" to a higher energy level. When the atom stabilized (the point at which the electrons return to their original energy levels), a photon was released. A photon was a "packet" of energy that traveled in both a wave-like and a particulate manner, giving it a high energy level, as well as a high damage rating.
It was a matter of dissipating the entire atom so the photon would never be released. Or, only half or a quarter of the photon would be released. “Fire,” Mira commanded. The remoter on the left beeped in affirmation, and a green blaster bolt was aimed towards her. Concentrating, Mira made this one second into ten long ones as she held out her hand and concentrated on the surge of energy from the remote. She felt the electrons jumps, and a nano-second later the atom stabilized. Mira concentrated on that one atom, trying to spread it away from the center point. Sweat beaded her brow. Right before the photon was released, she succeeded, and the remote malfunctioned, losing repulserift energy and crashing to the ground.
Mira closed her eyes, dissatifisfied with herself. “Stang,” she muttered. The attempt was to actually absorb the energy from the blaster bolt into her body itself, not destroy the remote.
Then it hit her.
“Fire!” she commanded the last droid. It complied without hesitation, and Mira put her hand foreword, using the Force to suck the energy right out of the blaster bolt. As soon as that happened, Mira felt revitalized and ready for the next one. She laughed. “I got it,” she said. “Fire three.” The remote complied, and Mira proceeded to block each bolt with the palm of her hand, finally catching the last one in a fist.
It worked just like the Dark Jedi sucked the life out of their opponents, but Mira was just sucking the living daylights out of a blasterbolt.
“Deactivate,” she commanded the remote. “I’ll be back later.”
There was a new spring in her step when she left.

"Very well," I said automatically, nodding. I knew full well that Mira's talents and skills would be quite useful on that mission. "The three of you together should be able to succeed. Mira is especially skilled in many ways, and she's becoming even more talented in other areas due to her Jedi training and her practice in wielding the Force."
I shook my head slightly. "Dane really helped get us all off to a good start," I said. "She trained me, Atton, Bao-Dur, and Mira how to hear the Force, and how to begin using it. She started us all off on the path to become Jedi. If it wasn't for her, none of us would be here today, not even you. Because she helped you defeat the Whale."
I sighed. "Though now it seems that it is time for us to return the favor. We must rescue her--or, at least you must. But if there's anything I can do from here, let me know."

"Yeah, just two things," Revan said. "Can you go get Mira for me? I have to say bye to Dev. Then I'll have to write a note to Onasi. And... can you watch Dev for me while I'm gone? Or you could put him with one of the Padawans. Whatever you prefer. Will you do that for me? Please?"

I nodded. "Sure thing, I can do that," I said. "I'll be sure to look after Dev, and I'll go find Mira right now."
Perhaps this will also give me a chance to talk to her, before she leaves, I thought, feeling my throat tighten just a little. Though I don't know what I'd say to her... but at least I can say goodbye, I suppose...
