Revan looked at him with widened eyes. “What?” she whispered. “No, you can’t be serious. Carth, please… Stay here and spend time with Dev. That’s all I ask. I may just be in contact in and out for a while. Only a Jedi team can handle this, Carth.”

Carth Onasi
I sighed, letting her go. "Fine, I'll stay with Dev. I...I...just want you to be careful."
I turned around and headed back for the enclave, glancing at the protocol droid on my way in. After entering the code to open the door, I sat down on the couch, thinking.

I chuckled softly at the sight of Dev eating one of the cookies. I smiled and took one for myself, and began to eat it slowly. "You have a very nice room here, Mira," I said simply, glancing around at it.

"It's not much," she said, "but it's home." Mira took off her large cloak and took out a large bag. Going to her closest, she took out a black reversible jumpsuit and stuffed it in there. Leaning over, she undid the latch on one of her hidey-holes, and took out a few bounty-hunting supplies and put them into the bag before you could say Wow. Dev stared at the shapeless black bag, trying to see what was in it. Mira just shook her head and put the bag on the workbench.

Carth had left Revan just standing there in the snow. She had expected him to push it, to argue with her. He was changing... And not for the better. He didn't care much about her any more. He had only proposed when he learned she was pregnant. Had he only married her for Dev? He didn't protect her as he did before. She gave him some hints, yeah. But it didn't work.
She wanted him to come. But she couldn't bear it if something happened to him. He would've done the same for her... wouldn't he?
She was starting to get the feeling that she didn't know her own husband any more.

Carth Onasi
As I sat there, I wondered, what was I really thinking about?
Why did I let her go?
I started to get the feeling that I was slowly falling apart, just leaving everything behind. I loved her, why did I just let Revan stay out in the snow?
I shook my head and headed back for the doors, enough was enough, I was going with her.

I peered at Mira as she put her bag on the workbench, part of me curious what was in it. What she was planning on taking along? However, I didn't ask. It was really none of my business, and it would be rude of me to ask, or to keep staring at it.
So I helped myself to another cookie, and smiled down at Dev. Just like a typical kid, he was watching Mira, obviously curious what was in that bag. I reached over and patted him on the shoulder. You probably don't need to know, kid, I thought, though I didn't say it aloud.
I looked over at Mira again. I still couldn't believe that, just today, we had professed our love for each other. And to think I had been so nervous about it earlier!
"I almost wish I could go with you," I found myself telling her. "Although I am quite pleased to stay, because someone needs to hold down the fort, and keep an eye on things here. However," I said, taking a step toward her, and placing a hand on her shoulder, "take care of yourself out there. Alright?"

"Don't worry," said Mira. "Frankly, I'm glad someone's smart enough to keep the place intact." She frowned and checked the contents of the bag, checking to make sure she had everything she needed. Looked like it. "You were the best choice to run the place, anyway. I don't have the patience for others. I need to be out there and fighting. It's easier to fight from the inside, so I've learned."
Mira stretched out her leather-gloved fingers and yawned. "It's getting late," she noticed. "Dev, I think it's time to go to bed."
"Can I bring the cookies?" he asked.
"Nope," Mira said. "Come on, kiddo. Going up!" She leans forword and heaved Dev over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes. He screamed in delight. "You like that, huh?" she asked. "What about this?" With that she leaned foreword and Dev fell off of her shoulder, his head just about in inch from the ground. He shrieked in pleasure and threw his hands above--or below--his head.
Mira leaned back and bounced on her heels to get Dev in a better position. "Be right back," Mira told Mical. "Gotta put Mr. Jedi to bed."

First my eyes widened, then I chuckled when I saw Mira playing with Dev in the air. She really was good with that kid, although for a split-second, she was making me nervous just watching her play with him. Though Dev seemed to love the rough-housing.
She then left the room with Dev, and I shook my head slightly, smiling at her as she walked out. "Alright," I called after her.
I took a seat, and waited for her to return. And while I waited, I tried to remember how I was when I was Dev's age. Perhaps I had been a lot like him in some ways... although I do remember that I was a quieter kid. If anything, I needed to be toughened up some. Though I think the time that I toughened up the most was when I traveled with Dane, on her journey when she searched for the missing Jedi Masters.
Yet, in spite of everthing I'd been through and experienced over the years, I was the one who preferred to avoid a fight, if I could. However, I was quick to defend myself, and my comrades.
My thoughts then turned toward Mira. Even as I sat here, thinking, part of me wondered if things could really work out between us. I knew that we were good friends, we respected each other, and we'd just admitted to each other today that we shared the same feelings. And yet, we were both so... different.
Well, that's something the two of us will have to work out, I thought. And if our relationship is meant to me, then it will work out. I'm sure of it.

Mira quickly put Dev to bed, and put a subtle sleeping suggestion into his mind, once again disturbed at how good he was at cloaking himself in the Force. Entering her own room again, only two doors down, she raised her eyebrows at Mical. "Okay, I have a medpack for that shoulder here somewhere," she said. Crossing over to the 'fresher, she took out a small white pack and brought it over to Mical. "You did pretty good at staunching the bleeding,"she said, sitting down next to him so she could see the damaged shoulder, "but I think you'll probably need a staple or two at most."
Mira opened up the medpack and took out a painkiller, injecting it into a vein in his arm in a manner so gentle, it didn't seem to be like her at all. Withdrawing the needle, she cleaned the injection with a piece of cotton soaked in alcohol. Then she rolled up the rest of his sleeve so she could see his shoulder. She whistled in awe. "Hard to think you used to be a wimp," she muttered.

I gritted my teeth a little as she began to work on my shoulder wound, but otherwise I kept very still and didn't utter a sound.
I chuckled softly at her words when she said, "Hard to think you used to be a wimp." I looked at her over my shoulder at her. "I think the wars changed all of us," I told her softly with a warm smile. "When Dane first found me on this very world, within the lower levels of the enclave, I was quite a different person indeed."
My smile widened as I looked at her. "And, in some ways, so were you. Somehow, you are a bit gentler than you used to be. You're still an excellent hunter, and you're good at finding people. But at the same time, you seem more... tender-hearted. You care more for people than you used too."
I glanced toward the doorway. "I think we both agree that you are great with kids," I said cheerfully, nodding in the direction of Dev's bedroom.
Dane
The voice would not stop--it was controlling me, controlling my actions, almost controlling my very thoughts. Eviwy forced me to keep going on and on, without ceasing. I'd been here for a long time already, searching, looking for clues as to the location of the crystal.
The more time that passed, the more knowledge I gained of how the interior of the temple was laid out, and that knowledge was directly recieved by Eviwy, whom was dwelling within my body and my mind.
After much searching and seeking, I discovered a passageway to a deeper part of the temple, one that led to an ancient chamber underground. So, under unceasing pressure from Eviwy, I was forced to search for the doorway to this chamber.
It took a while, but I finally found it, located on the floor next to a wall at a dead end, down one of the corridors, on the far side of the Temple. It was cleverly camoflauged to look just like the floor, and I knew that it would not open easily. As soon as my fingers touched it, I knew that it required a specific method of pressing in and turning certain symbols in order to open it.
And there was most likely a booby-trap on the other side, once it was opened. At least, I wouldn't be surprised. This was a hatch that was not meant to be opened anytime soon.
I am tired, I thought, already starting to lie down on the floor.
No, do not go to sleep, came the powerful, nagging "voice" of Eviwy in my mind. She tried to force me to stay awake, to continue to do my bidding, but even she realized that it could no longer be done. Even a Jedi had to sleep every so often. That was fact.
With great reluctance, Eviwy eased off for the first time in days, and allowed me to lie down. But she kept a careful watch on me, monitering my thoughts carefully, and even as I drifted off to sleep, I knew she would wake me the moment she felt I'd had enough rest to continue her task.
