Like the title says--why didn't the Exile have a name? I suppose in a way, it was much more convenient, so that the player could choose the PC character's appearance and select a customized name. However, well, Revan was widely known by name, and so was Malak. So were the Jedi Masters, so was Bastila. So why does everyone only call the Exile "Exile"? Even Carth calls him/her that. Perhaps it's because that's all that people really know to call the Exile, perhaps it's just the title she/he has picked up. Still, just thinking... wouldn't it be more respectful to call the Exile by name on occasion? Again, I understand that part of the reason is because the game-writers wanted to give the ability for the player to create a custom name. But... you know, thinking about it realisticly, I wonder if more people would have or should have called the Exile by name?

Good question.
Some might have not even known their name. Perhaps the Jedi Master's renamed everything about her/him "Exile", because they act like the Exile doesn't deserve to be called a name.
And Atris was the one who made his/her identity public. And since the Exile's canon gender is female, Atris most likely hated her very much. She seems to love the male Exile but at the same time resents him, in a way. I could definately see her feeling that the Exile did not deserve to be called by their name, so she simply called her "Exile" to the public, which is why Goto, Carth, Sion, etc. called her "Exile".

Perhaps we do not know what the Exile can be called. Though it was the player's choice to name their Exile. *shrugs*

Well, in Jedi Outcast, the default name is Jaden, boy or girl, whatever species.
